The diameter of the Prusik cord is crucial and should be chosen according to the diameter of the main rope. Typically, the diameter of the Prusik rope should be around 60% to 80% of that of the main rope to ensure good grip and functionality of the knot.

Length:

Prusik cords are available in different lengths. The length chosen will depend on the specific use, but it should be sufficient to allow the climber to create the self-locking knot of his choice.

Flexibility:

A good Prusik cord should be flexible enough to allow the Prusik knot to be made easily, yet rigid enough not to slip under load.
